Just because you are in the gym doesn’t mean you are an athlete. There are three levels of self-awareness, or you can call it wisdom. To begin, you are not aware of your own physical abilities. This is the level of awareness that comes when you know you can do something.
In our case, it’s a pretty small number. We’re not at all aware that we can do something. But we can’t.
So far our self-awareness is limited to physical fitness. But that’s not all. You can also be aware of your body and mind, and you can be aware of your entire life. To be aware of your whole life, you have to be self-aware of your surroundings. To go beyond that level of awareness, you can’t possibly be aware of yourself.
This is why the above quote makes no sense. We can be aware of ourselves, and we can be aware of our surroundings, and we can be aware of our whole life, but we can’t be aware of our self.
You can be aware of your body and mind, but you cant be aware of your entire life. Self-awareness isn’t a self, it’s a state of being. We cannot be self-aware if we’re not self-aware.
Yeah, that’s how it is. We can be aware of our surroundings but we cannot be aware of the physical world we live in. The physical world is a big part of a person’s perception, the way we see the world, the way we think, and if we’re not aware of it then all it means is that we’re not aware of ourselves. If we’re not self-aware then we’re not aware of anything. It all comes down to what we’re aware of.
It seems that, in an effort to be more aware of the physical world, some people are turning their self-awareness into a self-obsessed form of self-pity. We’ve seen this happen before, in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s when the “self-help” gurus encouraged people to think of themselves as “their own worst critic”.
This is a good thing, but I think it often results in people turning their own thoughts into self-pity. Although they are probably aware that they are feeling bad, they often do not recognize the effect of their thoughts on themselves or others.
The first step to self-awareness is being aware of a person’s thoughts and feelings. It’s not until you are able to recognize that you are in a bubble that you can start to step outside of it and start to think things through. This is what the self-help gurus and self-improvement gurus are getting at when they say, “Don’t think about it, just do it.
One of the self-awareness mantras is, “Think about your problems, not yourself.” The problem with that is that people often don’t know how to step outside of their own misery. They just keep thinking about themselves and don’t notice that they are letting their problems get in the way of their improvement.
