Earth is not a big planet. It is about 8.7 billion miles around, and our sun is about 2700 miles away.
But it gets even better. Because Earth is so far away from us, most of the time we don’t have any experience with the sun’s surface.
The sun’s surface is very interesting because we only get a very small glimpse of it from our planet’s surface. But that is enough to give us a pretty good idea of the sun’s surface. Because the other planets orbit the sun in a different way from ours, they have their suns surface to see as well. Because the suns are so far away, we dont get to see the suns surface as clearly as we would if we lived on our own planet.
So while we dont get a great deal of experience with the suns surface, it’s still interesting to see it in pictures. And not just any pictures either. Because there are some very good pictures out there.
The photos on the top are from the sun’s surface. The photos on the bottom are from the earth. The photos on the middle are from the earth with the suns surface shown in the upper right.
So while we dont get to see the suns surface as clearly as we would if we lived on our own planet. So while we dont get a great deal of experience with the suns surface, its still interesting to see it in pictures. And not just any pictures either. And this is what I mean. The photos on the top are very good pictures of the suns surface, the photos on the bottom are some really great pictures of the earth.
To me it’s like the difference between looking out the window of a car and looking out the window of my house. You can see the sun in the car, but you can’t see the sun in the house. But you can see the sun on the earth. And if you think about it, it’s sort of like looking at a very good picture of the sun and realizing that it really is a great picture of the sun.
If you were to take a picture of the sun from earth and lay it out on your wall, you would see the sun on the surface, but if you were to take a picture of the sun from earth and lay it out on your wall with the sun hidden in a cloud, the sun would only be visible on the outside of the cloud.
It’s a similar phenomenon to the moon, but more so. When we see a picture of the sun from earth, we’re actually looking at the clouds. But if we see a picture of the sun on a cloud, we can see the sun, but we can’t see the clouds. We can see the sun because we’re looking at the cloud, but if we were to look at the same picture of the sun and lay it out, the sun would be hidden.
