Many of our protest movements have been quite destructive. For instance, the Black Panthers, who shot a police officer in the back and drove a tank into the crowd at a police-convenience store in Oakland, California, and then proceeded to shoot unarmed civilians and police officers in the process. They have been involved in everything from stealing bank accounts and voting in a Presidential election.

These protests were small at the time, but quickly grew to be massive protests. It wasn’t until a few years later that the Tea Party started to have a more mainstream presence thanks to the internet.

I think the idea of protest is to try to get people to do what you want them to do. If they see something that is important to them, they will do it regardless of how unpopular it is. But the way that we protest is to make sure that the idea is seen as important to the person who has it.
One of the things I learned from my trip to the Arab Spring was that people want their governments to do what they want, regardless of what the people want. Not just because they may not get what they want, but because they want to believe that they will. It makes sense that people are frustrated with their governments, but it also makes sense that they want to see politicians take action to make sure that the people they represent are doing what they say they are doing.
The idea that people wanted to see the government do what the government said they’re doing makes so much sense. It makes me want to see the government do something about the issues I find important, even if I don’t like some of what they’ve done.
